The Board is pleased to report that we had 37 voting members and 3 guest speakers at our first Annual Members Meeting. The members accepted the slate of nominees presented by the Nominating Committee Chair, Ricky Stowell. There were no nominations from the floor for the 7th position. The membership then voted for a unanimous consent. The six Board members for the coming year are:

Ricky Stowell chair

Sister Mary Ellen Holohan vice chair

Carole White secretary

Joscelyn Cook director

John Rondon director

Charles Slightam director

vacancy director

SOUTH SHORE FIRE STATION After months of work, the task force studying the future of our nearest fire station recommended to City Council the complete replacement of the 1971 structure at its existing location. With the Council’s approval the process of getting ready for a 2026 bond measure starts with hiring an architect to develop specific plans. Chris Durkee of the task force promises to keep our neighborhood association updated with progress reports. The Mary’s Landing neighborhood association is fortunate to have Patrick Cechini of Mary’s Woods on the task force.

CITY GRANTS Another guest speaker on March 20 was Quin Brunner of the Mayor’s office. He explained the revised rules for applying for city grants especially in the area of emergency preparedness. The new rules will become operational with the next budget cycle starting July 1, 2025. Based on work our ad hoc committee did last year, your new board will consider how to proceed to avail ourselves of the new opportunity. Your Board wishes all of you a healthy and happy Spring.
