On Sunday June 28, 2026 13 members of the community gathered in front of St Anne’s Chapel on the Marylhurst Commons campus. They spent a half hour practicing damage reconnaissance and radio communications.
Some were graduates of CERT (community emergency response training) programs. Some also participate in Mary’s Woods resident volunteer radio team. Others, including residents of Greenbrae, were partnered with trained team members. We had an incident command center, 2 teams doing investigating, and 1 team setting up a medical triage area. Eveyone learned something from the exercise, and left feeling they knew how they could contribute if they survived a major disaster. Future drills have not yet been scheduled, but probably will be.
